Set Free From the Bondage of Sin

“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39
Keeping the Law of Moses was not designed to set us free from sin. Far from it. Romans tells us it is through the Law we became conscious of our sin, and thus the need for a Savior. Jesus’ death and resurrection, and believing in him, sets us free from the bondage and penalty of sin. Bondage in that sin keeps trying to draw you back into more sin. Penalty in that sin brings death, but Jesus has overcome death, so our hope and trust is in him.
