God of Order
Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love–Isaac–and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” Genesis 22:1-2
Our God is a God of order. You will notice patterns that He follows in many situations. Here, He tells Abraham to take his son to the region of Moriah to sacrifice him there as a burnt offering. You can track down Moriah and discover it is the same mountain top that Jesus was crucified on about 2,000 years later. Abraham was willing to offer his son as a sacrifice even as God offered His son Jesus as a sacrifice to take away the sin of the world. Jesus was obedient to God going to the cross, silent as a lamb being led to slaughter. There is no indication of any struggle or opposition by Isaac to being bound and laid on the altar. Some assert Isaac was willing to trust his father and his God, just as Jesus did. God is working for order in your life. He is worthy of your trust.
