Pass It On

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals. Judges 2:10-11

The Israelites that crossed the Jordan and entered the Promised Land, those that saw firsthand the mighty deeds of the Lord in going before His people, they served the Lord throughout Joshua’s lifetime and of the elders that outlived him. But after that whole generation had passed, it was evident by their actions that the next generation did not love the Lord with all their heart and soul, and all their mind and strength. The next generation did not follow the Lord. Each generation of people must make up their own minds who they will serve. If you serve the Lord, one of our most important responsibilities is to raise our kids so they would love the Lord, too. Deuteronomy tells us to diligently teach the ways of the Lord to our children. Talk of them when you sit, when you walk, when you lie down, and when you rise up. In other words all the time. Daily life is a teaching opportunity that our kids may come to know and love the Lord. Pass it on.
