Sons of God

When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Genesis 6:1-2
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days–and also afterward–when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:4

Who were the sons of God? Not to be confused with the Son of God, Jesus. In just reading the text, the simplest and straight forward meaning, especially when contrasted to daughters of humans, appears to be angelic beings. Furthermore, using scripture to define scripture, in almost every case sons of God refer to angelic beings or resurrected beings. These angelic beings were not godly beings, but likely followers of Satan that were cast out of heaven. Jude 1:6 tells us of angels that abandoned their proper dwelling and are now bound in chains for judgment. The offspring of the sons of god and daughter of humans were the giants of old, the most famous being Goliath. The influence of the offspring were a significant factor in God’s judgment on man through the Flood. Since the beginning of man with Adam and Eve in the garden, Satan tries to lead man astray. God threw Satan and a third of the angels out of heaven. Despite Satan’s efforts to rob, kill, and destroy all men, God provided a way to overcome sin through Jesus Christ. The free gift of God is available to all who will accept Jesus as Lord as Savior, On this first Sunday in 2021 may you accept God gift and discover the life God has planned especially for you.
